After conquering domineeringly a place of honor, among the most famous and beautiful locations that would attract the committed travellers along the route of the International Grand Tour, Sorrento, in the 18th century, thanks to inlaid wood work, developed a local expression capable not only to fascinate its visitors, but also to offer shopping ideas with these precious souvenirs.
The used techniques were essentially two: the wood carving (consistent on the fabrication of artistic work made through a model of noble wood and above all, ebony, obtained by carving and engraving the wood blocks turning it onto real sculptures) and the inlaid work or more precisely, the inlaid wood work.
